Due to COVID-19, KinderFlute group classes are suspended for Spring 2022.
KinderFlute, developed by Kathy Blocki, is a method designed to effectively teach
students to love music and play the flute from an early age. KinderFlute is intended
to make playing the flute and understanding musical concepts both accessible and fun
for children.
Students benefit from weekly group classes and one-on-one lessons with the instructor. Incorporating games, movement and improvisation exercises from my research and training in the KinderFlute and Dalcroze approach, group classes are carefully planned to maximize each student’s learning potential and musical development.

KinderFlute Classes are fun-filled 12-weeks programs that consist of weekly group class instruction AND 30-minute private lessons designed for children to explore playing the flute!
A signed waiver must be on file for each participant. Please preview the waiver prior to registering. A copy of the waiver will be sent via email upon receipt of registration and must be signed by the participant (or legal guardian if under 18) prior to the first lesson.

A family discount is offered when more than one member of a family is enrolled in lessons or if a student is enrolled in more than one program of study through the CMS. USC faculty/staff and senior discounts are also offered.
Tuition can be paid in two installments for KinderFlute Classes and is available upon request. Please email for details.

Josie Cox holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of South Carolina and is pursuing a Master of Music at Wright State University. She has held an active teaching career as a flute instructor and is excited to join CMS as the director of KinderFlute Columbia!
