Nakisa Asefnia

Nakisa entered the University of South Carolina’s Clinical-Community doctoral program in 2017. She completed her undergraduate education at Appalachian State University in 2013, where she double-majored in Psychology and Spanish. Prior to coming to USC, Nakisa worked at RTI International, a not-for-profit international research institute, as a research analyst in the Center for Justice, Safety and Resilience. Nakisa worked on projects related to epidemiological outcomes, trauma, victimization, and criminal justice. She also worked on program evaluations and intervention development in vulnerable populations.

Nakisa currently works under the mentorship of Dr. Bret Kloos on several projects—including a Photovoice project relating to empowerment of homeless youth and changing perceptions of youth homelessness, the Homelessness Action Research Network (HHARN), and the COLA Network. She also works with Dr. Abraham Wandersman on several projects relating to readiness in the contexts of program implementation and capacity building, and the readiness of organizations to adapt and sustain innovations.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
