Opportunities and Resources
The recent excitement and growth of film and media at the University of South Carolina is tied in part to several unique resources here, which include the remarkable film and television archival collection, the Moving Image Research Collections (MIRC), our faculty and students’ involvement with the Orphan Film Symposium at NYU, and ongoing opportunities for students with Columbia, South Carolina’s art house cinema, The Nickelodeon Theater.
Being part of a large university also gives our students access to some impressive resources and additional ways to enhance your degree.
Each semester the Film and Media Studies Program has a limited number of positions available for students who are eligible for funding through the federal work-study program. If you are interested, contact the Film and Media Studies Program Office at 803-777-2339 or email Laura Kissel, FAMS Interim Program Director at Kissel@mailbox.sc.edu to determine if positions are available. Other work-study positions on campus are listed at the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.
