National Director, Dr. Kristal Moore Clemons

Dr. Clemons is a native of Chicago, Illinois and a graduate of DePaul University having earned her B.A. in Women’s Studies and Political Science. She earned an M.A. from Washington State University in American Studies, her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Education-Culture, Curriculum and Change and a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies from Duke University. 

Executive Director, Dr. Doyle Stevick, Associate Professor, Educational Leadership and Policies, College of Education, University of South Carolina

Dr. Stevick’s research is broadly concerned with the civic mission of schools and the role of schools in creating and sustaining tolerant, democratic societies in a globally integrated world.  This research focus has multiple strands, beginning with citizenship and global citizenship education, democratic approaches to leadership and policy, and forms of internationalization, including the international labor market for teachers.  These issues are investigated through qualitative research methods through a cultural lens.  

Dr. Daniella Cook, Associate Professor, Social Studies Education, Program  Coordinator, Secondary Social Studies, University of South Carolina

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Cook received her masters and doctoral degrees from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the faculty at UofSC, Cook served as an Assistant Professor of Education at The University of Tulsa and the Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Research Network on Racial and Ethnic Inequality in the Social Science Research Institute at Duke University. Her research and scholarship address three intersecting themes: historical and contemporary narratives of black educators, public policy with a focus on community engagement and identifying factors that support student access to rigorous curricula across diverse schooling contexts.

Ed Lee III, EdD is Senior Director of the Alben W. Barkley Forum for Debate Deliberation, and Dialogue (BF) which houses Emory’s nationally acclaimed debate team and its cutting-edge dialogue programs. 

As Senior Director, Ed works directly with Emory Admissions Emory's Woodruff Scholars Program to recruit and support high-caliber students and the Glen Pelham Alumni Foundation to maintain purposeful and engaging relations with Emory alums. He was the 2015 Ross K Smith National Coach of the Year and a three-time recipient of the James Unger Award given to the coach of the best debate team in the country. He leads Emory’s debate program that consistently develops nationally ranked debaters while pursuing an access mission that provides the opportunity for debate training to all Emory undergraduates. Before coming to Emory, Ed served as the Director of Debate at the University of Alabama and the Director of UC Berkeley’s Bay Area Urban Debate League. 

Dr. Lee has a Doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Georgia’s Institute for Higher Education (IHE), a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Alabama, and is currently studying the interconnections between religion, justice, and peace building at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology.
