Dr. Amy Snipes (Pennsylvania State University)  will talk about her research on migrant farm work as influenced by her position as a slave-descendant daughter of the American South. Focusing on her positions as a Southern woman, anthropologist, and health behavioralist, she untangles how these interesting perspectives strengthened her ties to health, equity and policies for migrant and seasonal farmworkers.

Dr. Kendra Calhoun (University of California, Los Angeles) will talk about her research on Black TikTok and explore how representations of Black linguistic diversity on the platform expand and challenge dominant representations of Black language practices and explore how this phenomenon contributes to sociolinguistic and linguistic anthropological understandings of the relationship between language and race.

Marjorie (Candy) Goodwin (University of California, Los Angeles) puts out a call to action for more ethnographic study on children.  She posits that "The value of ethnographic study is that we can hear the voices of the children themselves as they articulate their social organization for each other. This permits a more nuanced view of children’s social worlds on streets and in playgrounds" . She will be joined by pannelists Ignasi Clemente Pesudo, Dr. Jill Kushner Bishop, Keith Murphy, and Jennifer Schlegel.
