Peer Leader Jobs

Peer leaders are trained through the College Reading and Learning Association International Training Certification to provide quality assistance to enrolled University of South Carolina students and to empower them to be independent learners.

Application for Spring 2023 Has Closed

The application for Spring 2023 Peer Leader positions has closed. We look forward to our next recruitment cycle beginning in March 2023!

  • October 10th: Applications for Spring 2023 open
  • October 10th 3-5pm: Drop-in Information Session on Mezzanine Level of Thomas Cooper Library
  • October 17th 3-5pm: Drop-in Information Session on Mezzanine Level of Thomas Cooper Library
  • October 19th 3-5pm: Drop-in Information Session on Mezzanine Level of Thomas Cooper Library
  • October 25th: Applications for Spring 2023 close at 11:59pm.
  • October 31st-November 10th: Interviews for Peer Leader Positions
  • November 10th: Last day for recommendation forms to be submitted
  • November 14th-28thPeer Leader Invitations sent on a rolling basis

Stop by the Student Success Center (Mezzanine Level of Thomas Cooper Library) during the times and dates listed above to speak with staff and current SSC Peer Leaders about available positions, benefits, requirements, and the application process. 

  1. Apply via Handshake by October 25th, 2022 before 11:59pm.
  2. All applicants must receive one recommendation submitted on their behalf by a USC-Columbia faculty/staff member or current supervisor to move forward in the recruitment process. The recommender must complete the recommendation form no later than November 10th, 2022 at 11:59pm.
    • The recommendation form must be completed by a USC-Columbia faculty member if the applicant is applying for the Peer Tutor, Peer Writing Tutor, or Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader positions. 
  3. In order to be hired by the University of South Carolina, Peer Leader candidates must have original documentation in their possession to complete the Employment Elligibility Verification (I-9) Form. These are non-negotiable expectations, as they adhere to federal guidelines. Failure to obtain and produce these documents by December 2nd, 2022 may affect a candidate's status in the recruitment process.
