Apply to serve as a 2022-2023 Propel Mentor

The Office of the Vice President for Research is seeking senior faculty who have had success obtaining funding from the NIH and/or NSF to serve as mentors for the Propel Research Mentorship Program in the 2022-2023 academic year. Applications are now open, and interested faculty are encouraged to apply by Monday, August 22, 2022.

Weekly Research Update: Thursday, July 28, 2022

Today's edition includes a call for new and early-career faculty to apply for the Propel Research Mentorship Program by August 15 and an invitation to join us this afternoon for the Office of Undergraduate Research's Summer Research Symposium.

Propel Research Mentorship Program to open for nominations

Propel is a structured research mentorship program that provides new and early-career faculty with nine months of structured workshops, mentorship and editing support to help them develop a polished grant proposal for the National Institutes of Health or the National Science Foundation. Nominations for the 2022-2023 Propel class will be accepted beginning Monday, July 25, and complete nominations are due by Monday, August 15, 2022.

The Office of the Vice President for Research is excited to invite the university community to join us for Artificial Intelligence: Game Changer or Game Over?, a panel discussion on the ethics and impacts of artificial intelligence, featuring UofSC’s own faculty researchers. The discussion will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. in the W.W. Hootie Johnson Hall at the Darla Moore School of Business.

All undergraduate students conducting research on UofSC campuses this summer are encouraged to join the Office of Undergraduate Research for the summer workshop series, Research: Next Steps to Success, beginning on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Free summer writing challenge will provide motivation, tips and tracking for writing and other scholarly projects

Sign up by June 15 for a 14-day writing challenge offered by the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity to get daily writing motivation, tracking, community and more. UofSC faculty and staff may use this structured challenge to pursue nearly any scholarly or professional project, not just writing.
